THE MUSIC SCHOOL OF NIAGARA, INC.TUITION-FREE LESSON FEE POLICY
The Music School of Niagara is pleased to offer tuition-free lessons under the 21st Century Learning Grant (U.S. Government’s No Child Left Behind legislation). However, the Music School’s resources are not limitless. In order to best and most fairly serve all eligible students and the community as a whole the following guidelines will apply.
1) All students must maintain satisfactory scholastic/musical progress in their studies. Students will be evaluated quarterly by the student’s teacher and the Music School administration to determine whether sufficient progress is being made.
2) Acceptable absences from lessons are limited to three times in a three-month period. However, the Music School’s cancellation policy will apply: Proper cancellation notice is considered to be at least one day prior to the scheduled lesson, in which case a student will be Excused. With proper notice, the teacher may offer the student a makeup lesson if time permits, or the Music school will apply a tuition credit. If a teacher cancels without proper notice, the same courtesy will apply. This offer is limited to one lesson per month.
Cancellations cannot be accepted on the day of the lesson. Teachers must be paid for the time that they are scheduled, so a student’s tuition-free account will be charged and the student logged as Absent if this happens.
3) Tuition-free eligible students must provide proof of income by providing the Music School a copy of its letter showing the student is eligible for free or reduced school lunches. If that cannot be provided, proof of income in the form of a tax return or other certified statement for the previous year will be required. NYS/Federal financial standards for eligibility will apply to the request, based on provided information.
4) If a teacher leaves the School or takes leave of absence, the student’s tuition-free account will be credited for any lessons missed while a replacement is being found.
5) Should a student not make satisfactory progress in musical studies or meet attendance requirements, lessons will be stopped to make room for other students on the waiting list. A student whose lessons have been stopped will have the option of being placed at the bottom of the waiting list and being called back in order should he or she wish to try again.
